General

What is Trigun?
Believe it or not I get this question fairly often, but if you don't really know what anime or manga is it's a good question. Trigun is a manga (japanese comic book) and anime (japanese cartoon) series. It's set on a desert world where Vash the Stampede travels looking for resolution to his past while helping others in any way he can. Trigun was first a Manga created in 1995 by Yasuhiro Nightow, it then later became an anime series a couple of years later.

Is Trigun in English?
Pioneer has brought the Trigun Anime to America and Canada. It is available on VHS and DVD. You can get it dubbed (with talking in English) or Subbed (with Subtitles in English) on VHS and the DVD version comes with both options. Prior to what many people and online stores might tell you Trigun has never been on Cartoon Network, or on TV in Canada either. There is a chance it might be on TV Someday, but no finalized plans yet. The manga is being rumored to be released in English in America in 2002 but no finalized plans yet.

Who/What is that cat?
It's name is Kuroneko which directly translates to Black Cat. However many people also refer to it as Lord Black Cat, because of how he's referred to in a couple of Voice tracks on the soundtracks. Anyways, Kuroneko is a character created by Nightow in one of his first comics. Kuroneko is featured in Trigun and pops up randomly as a little bit of comic relief. He's in the anime quite a bit, but not so much in the manga.

Anime

questions that involve Spoilers must be highlighted to read the answer.
Why does legato lick and/or touch his left arm and hand a lot?
SPOILER: Legato's left arm is actually Vash's left arm. Knives blew it off of Vash in July and gave it to Legato. Legato is incredibly sick in a stalker sort of way and probably likes the fact that he can touch part of Vash whenever he wants.

I heard that the manga has different Gung Ho Guns than the anime is this true?
Yes it is. Both Chapel the Evergreen and Caine the Longshot are not in the manga. They were in the anime because at that time not all of the GHG's had been revealed, but the studio needed characters to put in to fill all 12 spots on the GHG team.

Is Kuroneko's Voice the same in the Dub?
As far as I know it is.

Why does the Opening Credits change for every episode in Japan but not here?
In case you don't know during the opening credits where it shows descartes and his crew and a couple shots after that, in the Jap. episodes they showed scenes from that episode usually the bad guy or something funny. I have no idea why pioneer decided not to use the original openings for each episode, probably cause it was more expensive to format all of that over instead of just 1 version. However Joaquin wrote in and told me that in the episode Goodbye For Now the opening did change, At the part where the wanted sign is shown there is now a Warning/Evacuation Sign.

What are those Lightbulb things?
The simple answer is that they are plants. They are what give all of the towns energy, without them the people would die. If you want to know more about these watch eps 17 & 22 for a little more, or check out the episode guide. There is also some info in a couple of the chapters in the Manga.

Why does Brilliant Dynamites Neon like/have all those lights?
My guess is that because he has been living out in the desert so long he is kinda crazy and he became obsessed with how pretty they look. Kinda like looking at a Lava Lamp when you're really tired. Or he just needed something to set apart his gang from the rest and he had just been to a carnival and they were handing out those neon strips. There is no definite answer.

Manga

questions that involve Spoilers must be highlighted to read the answer.
Is the Manga as good as the anime? Is the manga worth buying?
Yes. The manga has much more drama and action which makes it very exciting. Also the manga has very little filler type stuff like the anime does, it almost all deals with the actual storyline of the Gung Ho Guns, Knives and the other cool baddies in this series. The Manga is also currently still going on, so while the anime is done you can still enjoy new adventures with Vash and Friends.

What is the difference between Trigun and Trigun Maximum?
The only real difference is the publishing company. Nightow was contacted by YKOurs to do a series for them right about the same time as Trigun Ended. He wanted to do a new story, but they wanted him to do a new Trigun Series. So he picked it back up. Trigun Maximum starts a couple of years after the events of Trigun and all of the characters got a facelift, but other than that it's the same.

Can I read Trigun Maximum before Trigun?
Trigun and Trigun Maximum follow one story line. Trigun is the first part and Trigun Maximum is the second part so if you want to read the entire Trigun Story line in order read Trigun First and then Trigun Maximum.

How long will Trigun Maximum go?
There's no telling. At around the time of the Fourth Tankouban I heard that Nightow wanted to do about 2 more volumes. However we are into the sixth volume, and new characters are being introduced. I wouldn't be surprised if there was at least 7 or 8 volumes.

Do you know where I can buy Trigun Manga?
try Planet Anime, the closest Kinokuniya store to you, or Sasuga Books They've all had them at one time or another. I also recommend checking local anime stores and at any conventions you go to, many manga retailers have them.

Merchandise

Where can I buy (insert trigun item here)?
This is the question I get asked most frequently. There are some things you can get fairly easily, but other than that I'd check e-bay as you're most likely to find it there. The list below is of some places that I reccomend going that I know have some trigun stuff a lot of people want...
Big Kids Collectibles has many of the Trigun Figures.
Planet Anime has videos and DVDs including import, also they have the manga & artbook, random stuff like keychains and pencil boards.
Right Stuf has all of the American Trigun products including Videos, stuff from palisades and the somewhat hard to find T-shirts.
Don't forget that E-bay has a lot of stuff, and if you check back regularly you can often find the rare item you're looking for.

What other action figures does Kaiyodo make?
They make Evangelion, fist of the north star, virtual on, ah my goddess, Votoms, Jin-roh, Heavy Metal 2000, and the list goes on.

Why can't you get model guns from Japan over here?
Actually I've heard reports of people ordering toy/model guns from Japan and getting them with no problems what so ever. However unless you're looking to spend a couple hundred dollars on the gun I wouldn't bother, because all of the ones I've seen are very expensive. There is a slight chance that a model pops up on E-bay, because I've seen a couple of meryl's derringers and even a Knives/Vash model gun on there.

The Site

Who Should I Send Fanart, Fanfic, Merchandise info etc.?
CGMatrix and I both handle different parts of the site for the most part, so when we get e-mails there is a lot of trading the stuff we got from them because the stuff you send in is not part of the sections we are responsible for. The following is a list of where you should send stuff or questions about all of the sections on our site.

News: Wampaq
Anime: Any of us
Manga: Wampaq
Fanart: Kurtr007
Fanfiction: Seiony
Club/RPG: Kurtr007, Seiony, or any of the other Club Founders
Merchandise: Wampaq
Wallpaper: Kurtr007
Links: Any of us

if you want to ask general questions about trigun then e-mail any of us, because we can all answer them.

Why haven't you put up my fanfic/fanart/wallpaper/link up yet?
A lot of the time we aren't available to update the site, so expect some delay when you send in stuff, because we won't necessarily now when we are able to update the site again.

Will you put up a link to my site?
Sure, send us the address and we'll check it out. It might take a while to get the link up, but we're always looking for cool trigun sites.

Why did you take down my link?
Simply because you didn't do anything with your site. I periodically check through all of the links, if your site hasn't been updated in three months then the link comes down. If you send us the link again and we can see that it has been updated then your link will possibly go back up. There are some sights that don't apply to this rule, for instance if your site has a lot of good information then there is reason still for people to visit. If you don't have barely anything on your site and decide not to update anymore it won't stay up.

Can I use some of the pictures from your site
You're going to have to e-mail us if this is your question. However there are some pics that can't be taken because they were scanned in by people who have helped out on the site. Don't take any pictures from the manga gallery, either covers or characters. Some of the pictures in the merchandise guide have been scanned in for the site or we have been given permission to use them so ask first. Generally speaking ask first before taking.

Can the Wallpapers be used on Macs?
I have a mac, and I've never had a problem using them. Just make sure your screen resolution is set to what it says at the top of the wallpapers page. So, yes they work fine on macs.

Why don't you have any episodes, songs, etc. to download?
There are two reasons, first is that downloading episodes and even music imposes on the rights of the distributors of said media, and we don't want people to be watching trigun only on grainy files. Secondly because even if we were allowed to, it takes an incredible amount of space which, because of the large amount of images we have, would cause us to run out of our very limited webspace even quicker than we already are.

The Club

How do I join the club?
To join you have to have a Yahoo ID then click the Join link at the top of the main page.

What's an RPG?
RPG stands for Role-Playing Game. It's very similar to games like Dungeons and Dragons, but we don't use dice and don't have pre-set encounters. Instead you pick a character either made up or from Trigun and you play them in the game. Consider it an on-going fan fiction where you write in your characters part.

How do I join the RPG?
after you've joined Read the Founders notes on the main page and there should be a post number, read that post and that should give you all the info you need to play.

Miscellaneous

I heard that a Trigun Shirt was on MTV is that true?
Yes, on the flopped TV show 2Gether which was about a make believe boy band. One of the group members wore 2 different styles of the button up Vash the Stampede shirt that was found in Hot Topic.
